Visualization
One of the most important techniques to aid in your success on the magnetic diet is visualization. You must take the time each day, preferably twice a day, to visualize your success. By visualize success I mean to visualize your perfect body, you need to see, clearly in your mind’s eye how you want your body to look, while at the same time you feeling the positive emotions that looking that way would make you feel. You need to see in your mind’s eye your perfect weight when you step on the scale and you need to feel the positive emotions that weighing in at that weight would make you feel.
What happens when you start to lose weight and achieve success on any diet? Compliments happen. People come up to you and compliment you on how good you look. They start asking you about what you’re doing and how you are doing it. Add this to your visualization. In your mind’s eye see yourself looking good and see your friends and family compliment you on how good you look and then feel how good it will feel to receive those compliments. See yourself smile as they tell you how good you look and feel. See yourself respond with a “why thank you!” And then feel that joy, that’s the key. You have to accent the visualization with the emotionalization. It’s like adding the soundtrack to the movie. Although you’ll still have a movie without the soundtrack it will never be successful.
Not all of us are visually oriented in this way and while we may be able to visualize negative outcomes perfectly, clearly visualizing what we actually want may be harder for us. In order to help ourselves in this process we need to use some visualization training aids. These days with a program such as Photoshop, it’s easy to perform some photo magic and to put our face on any body that we choose. But if you don’t have photoshop or you don’t know how to use it you can simply cut out some pictures from a magazine and tape a picture of your head and face onto that body to achieve the same affect. For our purposes you want to do this in several variations: The bathing suit look, the casual wear look, and the professional look. Create at least one of each of these visualization training aid pictures in the different variations and look at them every day, several times a day until you can visualize yourself clearly in your minds eye this way without having to look at the pictures.
Another good visualization aid is to draw in the scale reading for your perfect weight. Look at your scale reading on your scale and on a piece of paper draw out something that looks the same except make it for the weight that you want to be and tape it onto your scale. Sound ridiculous? Well, it works, especially, when we connect our visualization to positive emotions that we actually feel in our body. The easiest way to illicit positive emotions is to listen to music that makes you feel good. Music over anything else has the ability to make you feel good fast. Be sure you are listening to a piece that makes you feel great. Listen to it a couple of times and while you are feeling great visualize yourself being healthy, light weight, and muscular if that is your perfect body or whatever the perfect body means to you.
