Chanting Mantras and Affirmations

The Story of the Genie and the Curly Hair

There once was a man whose desire it was to possess a powerful genie that would grant him all his wishes and desires.  He wandered far and wide in search of some mystical technique whereby he would be able to summon such a spirit to do his bidding.  Eventually, he came across a mystic who was in possession of the magic that could manifest such a spirit.

After studying at the feet of this mystic for many years the man was eventually able to perfect the technique which would allow him to call the genie into the physical realm.  The mystic warned his student, that once he called the genie into the physical realm it was his responsibility to keep the spirit forever busy, for if the spirit had nothing to keep it busy it would consume the man.  The man thought that this would be easy and so he called the genie into the physical realm.

“Oh my master” said the genie, “what would you have me to do?”

“Build for me a palace of the finest materials with the most intricate architecture as has ever been built upon this earth”, instructed the man.

“Your wish, is my command” said the genie, leaving to do his master’s bidding, only to return in a very short while.

“Turn around, oh master” said the genie smiling, “and gaze upon the beautiful palace I have created for you.”

The man was surprised at how quickly the genie had accomplished the task that he gave him.

“What next? Oh master”, asked the genie.

“Furnish the palace with rare art and antiques from around the world and decorate it with rare jewels such as have never been seen by the eyes of man”, said the man, thinking that this would surely keep the genie busy for some time.

“It is done” said the genie, returning after not too long a while and then asked “What next?” with a rather ravenous look in its eyes.

The man, now just a bit nervous as he realized how difficult it was to keep the genie busy and remembering the warning of the mystic, thought quickly and then said:

“Solve world hunger and when you have completed that find an alternative to fossil fuels and a solution to global warming”

The man then hurriedly left to find the mystic.

“It is not possible to keep him busy.”

“But I have given him impossible tasks, which he completes instantaneously”, said the man desperately.

“Here he comes now, after I have asked him to solve world hunger, find an alternative to fossil fuels, and a solution to global warming, what should I do?” He asked the mystic sounding more desperate than ever.
