2 – Facial Expression
Next to your posture and the way that you carry yourself, nothing can help to make you feel in the right mood than the correct facial expression. We have all heard of the saying “put your game face on’ and there is a good reason for it. Your facial expression expresses your mood. But here is the secret; your mood can be directly influenced by your facial expression.
Try this in front of a mirror: Imagine having everything that you could possibly want; the health, the happiness, the relationship, the house, the car, the career or business, and the wealth. Make the image as intense as you can, really get into it. Now stand the way that person would be standing right now. Think about it, how would they stand, and how would they move? Would they be slumped over, standing like a unconfident weakling, or would they be standing up tall and proud like a Marine at boot camp graduation. Now put on the facial expression that a person would have on right now as they reveled in their success. What kind of a facial expression would that be? What kind of a look would they have? How would they hold their eyebrows and mouth, what about the eyes? Would they have a frown on, or would they have the defeated eyes of a loser? Or would they have the facial expression of a winner, of someone who was extra confident and powerful? Put that expression on your face and practice it for the next 5 minutes.
Do this every day. Practice holding a facial expression that exudes confidence and power. Now its important to note that every facial expression has its proper place and time. You might not want to have the facial expression of a Mussolini when its time for a romantic moment with your lover. And you might not want to be making a sexy facial expression when you’re talking to your boss at the office. But practice your facial expressions and understand that you can affect your emotions and your mood through them in a powerful way.
