Part Two Chapter 7 (Page 36)

Can flesh then be considered the natural food of man, when his sense of smell and sight are revolted by it, unless deceived by the flavors of spices, salt, and sugar?  On the other hand, we find the fragrance of fruits and vegetables enjoyable, and our mouths water even at the sight of it.

So it becomes clear that the best possible diet for a human being is one that is composed mostly of fresh fruits and vegetables.  Animal flesh, especially red meat, is not digested properly by the human digestive system and for the most part remains in the intestines undigested and fermenting for a long time.  You can see that in the bodies of regular customers at steak houses.  They have this distended belly and what is in there is pounds of undigested red meat.  It sits in the digestive tract and it rots there and it produces toxins that eventually cause cancer and all types of other illnesses.  People that eat large amounts of meat have problems with regularity and suffer from constipation.

When the body is not able to eliminate waste in a timely manner toxins build up in the body and slowly poison it.  In order to be healthy, it is absolutely important to have regular bowel movements several times daily.  If you are not taking a crap at least twice a day you are not healthy, and toxins are building up in your body.  These toxins will build up over time and wreak havoc in your system in ways beyond just the physical.  The buildup of toxins in the body will eventually contribute to both physical and mental illnesses and contributes to emotional problems such as depression.  Imagine a 30-year-old toilet that only gets flushed a couple of times a week.  Imagine the disgusting filth and stench of the accumulated waste.  After a even just a day of that accumulated waste the stench will move beyond just the bathroom and will invade the entire house, it won’t take too long before it can even be smelled outside of the house.  That’s a good metaphor for the digestive tract that is not regular.  Soon that accumulated filth in your intestines will begin to poison the other organs of the body and it won’t be long before those around you will be affected as well.  The easiest way to introduce regularity into your digestive system is by eating the right amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables which contain high levels of both water and fiber and cutting down on your intake of flesh meats.
